1. Why This Course — and Why Now

The world is undergoing the most significant industrial transition since electrification. Climate regulation, carbon pricing, and disclosure obligations are no longer voluntary topics for the sustainability department alone — they are now operational, financial, and strategic realities that affect every manufacturing line, every shipment, and every product sold.

From 2026 onwards, the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) moves into its full financial phase, requiring importers to pay for embedded carbon in goods such as steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, electricity, and hydrogen. India’s own Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) is rolling out compliance and offset markets in parallel. Global buyers — from Walmart and Apple to Maersk and Unilever — are now asking Indian suppliers for product-level carbon data as a condition of doing business.

The result: every manufacturer, exporter, logistics provider, and service organisation will, within the next 24 to 36 months, be required to measure, report, and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Yet the supply of qualified professionals who can perform GHG accounting, prepare verifiable documentation, and guide companies through this transition is critically short.

This course is designed to close that gap.

It introduces the science, the regulatory landscape, and the practical accounting techniques behind carbon emissions and carbon credits — in two structured days — so that participants leave with both the foundational understanding and a clear roadmap toward a professional career or organisational capability in this space.

• What is a carbon credit, and how is one credit defined (1 tCO₂e)?

• Buyer-driven pressure: how Apple, Walmart, IKEA, Tata, Reliance, and Mahindra are pushing carbon data into supplier contracts.
• Financial impact: green finance, lower cost of capital, ESG-linked loans, and carbon taxes.
• Operational impact: energy cost reduction, process efficiency, and waste-to-resource opportunities that emerge from emission mapping.

Session 1.4  |  Product Carbon Footprint — Why “Per Piece” Matters

• The difference between organisational footprint and product carbon footprint (PCF).
• ISO 14067 and GHG Protocol Product Standard — what they require.
• Cradle-to-gate vs cradle-to-grave boundaries.
• Worked example: calculating kgCO₂e per kilogram of finished steel, per garment, or per litre of finished product.
• Why buyers, eco-labels, and CBAM specifically need a per-unit number — not just a company total.

Session 1.5  |  Ways to Reduce, Offset, and Neutralise Carbon Emissions

• The mitigation hierarchy: Avoid → Reduce → Replace → Offset.
• Energy efficiency, fuel switching, electrification, and renewable energy procurement (PPAs, RECs, on-site solar).
• Process improvements, circular design, low-carbon materials, and product redesign.
• Carbon offsetting: when it is legitimate, how to avoid greenwashing, and the role of high-quality removal credits.
• Internal carbon pricing as a management tool.

FTCCI Conducts Two-Day Microsoft Excel Training Programme to Strengthen Data Analysis and Reporting Skills

Hyderabad, July 11, 2026: The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI), through the FTCCI Skill Centre, successfully conducted a two-day classroom training programme on “Microsoft Excel – Basic to Advanced” on 10th and 11th July 2026 at the FTCCI Skill Centre, Federation House, Hyderabad.

The programme was inaugurated by Mr. R. Ravi Kumar, President, FTCCI, in the presence of participants and FTCCI staff members. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ravi Kumar highlighted the growing importance of digital skills and data-driven decision-making in today’s professional environment. He emphasised that proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Excel has become essential across industries and functional areas for improving productivity, analysing information, preparing effective reports, and supporting better business decisions.

The intensive 16-hour hands-on training programme witnessed the participation of 27 candidates from diverse professional and educational backgrounds, along with FTCCI staff members.

Designed to take participants from fundamental concepts to advanced applications, the programme provided practical exposure to the effective use of Microsoft Excel for data management, analysis, reporting, and dashboard creation. The training focused on developing skills that participants could immediately apply in their workplaces and professional assignments.

Through practical exercises, demonstrations, and hands-on learning, participants explored various Excel functions and tools used for organising and analysing data, generating meaningful reports, improving workplace efficiency, and presenting information through interactive dashboards.

The programme was organised as part of the continuing capacity-building initiatives of the FTCCI Skill Centre, which conducts industry-oriented training programmes aimed at strengthening the professional, managerial, digital, and technical capabilities of students, working professionals, entrepreneurs, and employees of member organisations.

The training received an encouraging response from the participants, who appreciated the practical and application-oriented approach of the programme. The interactive learning environment enabled participants to clarify their queries, practise different Excel tools, and understand their application in real-world business scenarios.

Through such industry-relevant training initiatives, FTCCI continues to contribute towards workforce development, digital capability building, and enhancement of professional competencies required by businesses and industries in an increasingly data-driven economy.

The initiative brought together professionals, students, artists, and creative enthusiasts to explore how music, dance, movement, visual arts, and creative expression can contribute to personal well-being, empathy, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Explore Your Creativity – One Day Classroom Workshop for professionals

The workshop was curated by Dr. Ankit Raj Bhatnagar, Director, FTCCI, with the objective of creating an accessible platform for individuals interested in exploring or progressing in different forms of art. The programme sought to bridge traditional and contemporary artistic practices while providing participants with opportunities to interact, experiment, express themselves, and learn from accomplished practitioners.

The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Ravi Kumar, President, FTCCI, who emphasised the importance of creativity and artistic engagement in the personal and professional development of individuals. He highlighted that platforms encouraging creative thinking, cultural engagement, and experiential learning can help professionals and young people develop broader perspectives and improve their ability to respond to an increasingly complex world.

The workshop began with an interactive ice-breaking session led by Mr. Jaywant Naidu and Dr. Ankit Raj Bhatnagar, encouraging participants to explore their relationship with creativity and artistic expression.

Ms. NSL Praveena of Colors of Dance Institute introduced participants to classical dance traditions, storytelling through movement, and the relevance of dance forms in society and culture. Her session demonstrated how movement and artistic expression can provide avenues for emotional communication and cultural understanding.

Renowned musician Mr. Jaywant Naidu of Parichay Arts Foundation conducted an experiential session on Music for Mind and Emotion. Through rhythm, sound, voice, group activities, and guided reflection, participants explored the emotional impact of music and the journey towards developing proficiency in an art form.

Mr. Prithvi Raj Ramaswamy of Steps Dance Studio conducted an interactive session focusing on body awareness, expressive movement, and stress release. The session encouraged participants to overcome inhibitions and experience movement as a means of communication, confidence building, and personal expression.

The visual arts sessions were led by Mr. Jyotiramaya Pattnayak, Visual Art Expert, who introduced participants to art as a medium for emotional release, observation, and creative expression. Through practical activities and live artistic demonstrations, participants experienced how visual art can stimulate imagination and provide new ways of interpreting everyday experiences.

Mr. Manohar Chiluveru, Sculptor and Artist, conducted a session on performing arts, storytelling, and confidence building. The session highlighted the relationship between creativity, communication, performance, and the ability to express ideas effectively.

The programme concluded with an engaging valedictory session addressed by Mr. B. P. Acharya, IAS (Retd.), Civil Servant, Cartoonist, Poet and Chief Advisor, FTCCI. Drawing upon his experiences in public administration and creative pursuits, he spoke about the importance of empathy, imagination, and creativity in professional life and problem-solving.

The carefully structured programme provided participants with exposure to dance, music, movement, visual arts, storytelling, and creative expression through a combination of discussions, demonstrations, hands-on activities, and collaborative learning. The workshop agenda reflected FTCCI’s effort to create a multidisciplinary learning environment that encouraged participants to learn, reconnect, express, and rejuvenate through the arts.

The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation and reinforced the idea that creativity is not limited to professional artists. Artistic engagement can serve as an important tool for emotional well-being, empathy, collaboration, communication, and innovative thinking. The programme also created opportunities for individuals with common artistic interests to interact, exchange ideas, and explore pathways for continued learning and skill development.

The program, which commenced on April 25, 2026, is being delivered through a structured weekend schedule and has witnessed active participation from entrepreneurs, professionals, and aspiring exporters.

The inaugural session was led by Mr. Kamal Jain, Head – Shipping & Logistics, who introduced participants to the basic concepts of international trade, including import-export procedures and essential documentation. The session set the foundation for understanding the global trade ecosystem.

A subsequent session focused on the role of APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority), conducted by Mr. Basha, where participants were provided insights into export opportunities in agricultural and processed food sectors, along with an overview of end-to-end export procedures.

On May 3, 2026, Mr. Sampath Kumar conducted an in-depth session on payment mechanisms in international trade, covering instruments such as Letter of Credit (LC), Documents Against Payment, Escrow systems, and guidelines under UCP 600. The session emphasized risk mitigation and secure financial transactions in cross-border trade.

The program also covered classification and valuation, helping participants understand customs-related compliance and pricing frameworks.

Upcoming sessions will focus on advanced topics including customs clearance procedures, export promotion schemes, international marketing, GST in exports, Foreign Trade Policy, FEMA regulations, INCOTERMS 2020, and risk management in foreign exchange, including hedging and forward contracts.

According to FTCCI officials, the initiative is designed to bridge the skill gap in international trade and support India’s growing focus on exports. The program combines theoretical learning with practical case studies, ensuring participants gain real-world exposure.

The training is expected to conclude in the last week of May 2026, with participants gaining a comprehensive understanding of the export-import domain, positioning them for opportunities in global trade and business expansion.
